Welcome to my big blue house in the middle of nowhere! Where I write about all the things that matter.
The Husband and I moved out here nearly ten years ago in pursuit of a life we meant to make, instead of the one we’d live by default. We started in a crappy little doublewide before building my favorite spot in all the world. I think we should call it the Hoguestead, don’t you?
The big blue house is surrounded by trees and hills with a creek running down behind the house. It’s a perfect spot for making a life, and that’s what we’re trying to do. We’re slowly reclaiming our seven acres. Finishing the big blue house. Learning to love each other better and raising the four crazies, one crazy day at a time. Trying to enjoy our moments, while also adding meaning and purpose to our God-given days.
Sometimes we do that by doing the mundane things well or differently. Or by trying new things (like beekeeping and plant propagation). And I especially do that by writing, reading, occasionally making videos, maybe starting a podcast, and focusing in on the how and why of life, instead of just the what. But The Husband calls us “purposefools.” Others may not understand it all (heck, we don’t either some of the time), but this is the life we’re trying to build.
And that what I be writing about here: all the things that matter. Our mini-farmstead. Some family. Some faith. Books I love. Even the fun and fascinating. But all the things that matter, to me first of all, but perhaps, to you as well.
You’re invited to tag along as we pursue our meant-to life, and perhaps be edu-couraged (that’s educational plus encouragement, in case you wondered) to pursue your own meant-to life along with us.
So come on in. You can even keep your shoes on. We aren’t sticklers for that kind of stuff around here. The back porch has a lovely view and you’re welcome to come and sit on it any time.
