So I’ve had a number of unexpected things happen in the last few days…
I didn’t expect to be offline for 4 straight days.
I didn’t expect Alex to get croup again. He was really miserable on Friday, though he recovered quickly.
I didn’t expect to get a cold from Alex that kicked me to the curb. I was getting sick on Saturday, and by Sunday, I was just wiped. It got better daily, but it was a rough few days.
I didn’t expect to stay at my in-laws for 3 days. We got there on Sunday, planning for me to head home on Monday. I stayed until yesterday afternoon because I just realized, and decided to stop denying, that I needed help with the babies (Eric was gone on a short trip with his brother).
I didn’t expect my MIL to be so gracious, so helpful, such a servant. I mean, she’s usually great, but she went above and beyond. She’s really a fantastic lady!
And finally, I didn’t expect to be telling you so soon that we are expecting baby #3 in October.
Yes, you read that correctly. I’m pregnant again. And yes, it’s only one this time.
It’s a bit crazy, for sure, but we’d stopped preventing when we were okay with the idea, figuring it would take awhile (it took 2 years the last time). And it didn’t take long at all.
So we will have 3 under the age of 2 in October (the twins will be 22 months then). Crazy, I know.
And that is all of my unexpectedness for today (I hope!). Happy Wednesday!

Me too…. As soon as I read the title, my mind went there. I wondered if some of the struggles of recent days might be related to early-pregnancy exhaustion. Wow! I am thrilled for you. I know in my case, one baby at a time was SOOOOOO much easier. I didn’t even know what to do with myself. Enjoy him. Or her. I am walking on air for you guys! Yayayayayayay!
And I also want to say. I love your MIL. What a blessing!

@gsowell – I love her, too! Let’s just say that I was a bit glad that my kids quit sleeping just as I hit the exhaustion stage…it gave me a good excuse!

March 10, 2010
Holy cow!!! I read your title and thought “if she didn’t have those baby twins I’d think she was being sly and announcing a pregnancy” and here you are… announcing a baby is coming!!! CONGRATS!!!!!
March 10, 2010
How exciting a new little life. Congrats.
March 10, 2010
Congrats!! I wondered if that’s what the unexpected title meant 🙂
March 10, 2010
Yay for three babies!! Mine will be 2 1/2 and 15 months when their little brother is born…hectic but oh-so-FUN!!
March 11, 2010
SO excited for you Shannah!
March 11, 2010
I know that having three under the age of two may seem a little overwhelming but it can be a real blessing. Your twins are going to be at an age where they will think “helping” with the baby is fun…getting diapers and wipes, giving the baby a paci, amusing the baby when you need to get something done, even feeding the baby a bottle. The biggest blessing will be the bond of friendship these three will have! I have observed many different sibling groups and have found that those who are 15-32 months a part are the closest knit (I know there are exceptions but as a general rule this is true.) All that said, CONGRATULATIONS!!!
