We are at the halfway point of summer.
Usually, of course, I’m totally a glass-half-empty kind of girl. But I’m not really sad about it. I simply realized this week that we’re pretty close to the halfway mark, give or take a few days.
And while it would be totally easy to make it sound like summer is dying or something, that’s not really what I’m thinking about. Yes, back-to-school stuff is already appearing in all the stores. Teachers are having the occasional freak-out on social media. And we’ve done a number of our summer things already:
- Two weeks of VBS managed, check!
- Cousin week at my sister’s, check!
- Swimming at the pool, check!
- A trip to the zoo, check!
- Whole days to stay at home and do nothing, check!
But even though it’s halfway through the summer, I’m especially glad to realize that there is still a lot of summer left. And a lot more summer fun to be had.
We are heading to the Wilds with friends tomorrow. We have lots of wedding stuff ahead (both fun stuff and work stuff). The fair is a month off, and there’s one more VBS to careen through.
So it’s been a really good summer so far, and there’s still really good things to anticipate.
Best of all, I have done surprisingly well this summer with actually being with my kids. We’ve played games and done some chores. I’ve been flexible enough to stop and do something fun, even when it was more work. I’ve let them do things with friends and family they really love to do.
We have half of the summer under our belts, and I’m kinda of impressed with how it’s going, with how we’ve been moving along with it.
So, it’s halfway through the summer, and I’m looking forward to enjoying the rest of summer just as much as the first half.
